The Toddler Bed – When It’s Time To Leave The Crib Behind
A toddler bed becomes necessary when your baby grows too big for his or her crib. It exists to take your baby through the transition time when he or she is too big for a crib but not big enough for a regular bed. Some designs are cribs to begin with but can be converted easily to a toddler bed when the time is right.
When deciding if it’s time to move your baby out of his crib into one of the many toddler bed models available keep this safety tip in mind. As soon as the distance measured from the top of the crib mattress in its lowest position, to the top of the side rails in their highest positions is less than ¾ of your baby’s height, the crib can no longer effectively contain the child. It is probably safer to switch to a bed at this time.
The toddler bed is a relatively new concept and they are manufactured of wood, metal, plastic or just about any material a designer can think of. At this point your baby is developing his or her own personal preferences and you will be sure to hear about them. There is one toddler bed line made in the shape of cars that will be a hit in any child’s bedroom.
