High quality baby crib mattresses are important
There are as many shapes and sizes of baby crib mattresses as there are different cribs for them to go in. It is of paramount importance for the safety of children that baby crib mattresses fit perfectly in the crib.
Safety Tips: Here are a few tips that you should observe when shopping for baby crib mattresses. Ensure that the outside dimensions of mattresses and the inside dimensions of cribs are almost exactly the same. If there is a gap between the edge of the mattress and the sidebars, headboard or footboard of the crib the child could become wedged in the gap and suffocate. It is most important that they be firm. Investigators have suggested that too soft baby crib mattresses may have been a contributing factor to some child suffocations and incidents of SIDS.
There are two types of baby crib mattresses, quilted with coil springs and foam. Generally speaking, foam is lighter making changing the crib bedding easier and coil lasts longer, although with normal use foam should easily last the time period required by one child.
A newborn baby spends about three-quarter of his or her few months of life in its crib, reducing to about half until it is old enough to move to a bed. During this time the child will more than double in height and weight. Give your infant the comfort and safety he or she deserves when you select from among the various baby crib mattresses.
