Safety tips for child car seats

The use of correctly installed child car seats is essential for safety whether you’re driving to the end of the block or across the country. If one of the new designs is the appropriate size for the age, height and weight of the infant is used, safety levels with correctly installed child car seats are increased even more.

Some features that will provide the greatest measure of safety combined with maximum comfort and convenience while using child car seats follow. To provide the highest level of safety, child car seats should be installed in the center of the rear seat facing the back of the vehicle for as long as possible but at least until your child’s first birthday. A five-point harness will provide a greater margin of safety than a three-point harness. More padding, particularly in the head area, will provide greater protection.

Browse and select from among child car seats made by the major manufacturers like Graco, Century and Peg Perego and obtain further safety tips.
